Uncorrected Page Proofs . Extremely rare collectible. page Proofs are sent to selected high profile
When a publisher produces a book, the author submits a manuscript. The publishing company edits it (in some cases, but it’s more rare these days) for content (marks it up), then “style edits it” (prepares it for page layout), and the book is then “type-set” (in these days, desk-top published.)
Uncorrected proofs are additional copies of those printed pages of a book, containing the mistakes that either the author generated or the editing process generated--copies that no one, author, editor, friend who goes over the MS--has corrected. It's interesting to see the errors and compare such a book to the finished item.
They are somewhat collectable--especially for books with more famous authors. Having the marked up proofs is better--more valuable--though, as a collector's item.
